Autonomous Vehicles, Real Opportunity

The Challenge

For a teenager without a car, a ride is the difference between a job, an internship, an afterschool program, or none of the above. Autonomous vehicles are arriving in cities across the country, but no one had asked whether they could serve the young people who need mobility most.

What Gather Innovation Did

Designed and leads a first-of-its-kind youth mobility pilot connecting underserved students to opportunity via autonomous vehicles, across two deployments. The program was built from the start to do double duty: deliver real rides to real students now, and generate the evidence and framework to inform state education and mobility policy for the 2027 legislative session.

Why It Matters

This is what community-led technology adoption looks like: young people and youth-development professionals shaping how a frontier technology gets deployed, instead of adapting to whatever arrives.

Delivered through Gather Innovation’s embedded leadership engagement.
